WAR ON THE POOR CONTINUE IN ZIMBABWE

The recent “operation murambatsvina” or “operation restore order” was brutal and it had no justification under whatsoever circumstances. Some people will fail to realize that the Zimbabwean communist government is warring against God and His people. In the bible God’s has mandated people to elect upright public leaders or resist wicked rulers.

“But select capable man from all people man who fear God, trustworthy man who hate dishonest gain and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens” Exodus 18:21.

Majority of the people in Zimbabwe rejected the government in all previous elections since the year 2000. Unfortunately the military government uses force to manipulate the ballot. In an immoral society where power is controlled by few the ballot can be made to speak anything. The Zimbabwean government is a criminal enterprise that is guilt of corruption, mismanagement, misguided policies, oppressive laws, murder, lies and institutionalised theft.

On 11 August 2005 a Zambian missionary was arrested at the Chirundu border for changing foreign currency from local people – irrespective of the fact that there is no sufficient cash in banks and the official rate of exchange is unreasonable low which is blatant theft by the government. The government in desperate need for foreign currency steal from people through seizing foreign notes and imposing low rates of exchange in banks. The missionary was taken to Karoi magistrate Court where he was charged zim $58 000 or 10 days in prison. He paid zim $35 000 and spend 4 days in prison. The missionary was declared a prohibited immigrant (at Chirundu Immigration Office) never to enter Zimbabwe. He appealed after prayer and the status was cancelled.

South African Government

South African politicians have set their eyes on rewarding Mugabe with millions of rands for destroying homes and means of live hood for millions. Appeasing a dictator with people’s taxes doesn’t make any sense.
After years of quite diplomacy and the so-called neutrality how can South African rulers talk of giving financial assistance to Mugabe. There was never a time when President Thabo Mbeki condemned Mugabe for crimes being committed by his government. The Zimbabwean government doesn’t have any creditworthy for decades they have been squandering not only people’s taxes but also donations from European Community.

The Zimbabwean economy has collapsed completely due to state terrorism, diabolic expropriation of white owned farms, and massive corruption. The manner in which the government is running the country is wicked and anti-economic progress. Fundamental to communism is starving of all dissenters this account for expropriation of farms, destruction of the means of live hood and homes, exorbitant import duties and quotas.

The struggle in Zimbabwe is serious, but to my surprise it is not receiving international attention as apartheid. It has been President Mbeki’s goal that the plight in Zimbabwe fail to receive attention of the world.
The injustices and savages in Zimbabwe are so numerous that most of them about 70 percent do not come to the attention of the media. Journalist, and writers who report to the foreign media fail to cover many parts of the country due to transport problems and the dangers that associate with the task of exposing the works of the wicked one.

Freedom of movement and assembly has been curtailed especial during the “operation restore order” there are number of cases where people where beaten and arrested for being seen in company of three. To those who work more than half a pay goes to the government through taxes. It is even painful to work while one knows that a monthly pay hardly afford groceries for two weeks. As you are reading this report thousands are rotting in prison because the justice system is long gone. Thousands who are being beaten and robbed of their possessions by the police, soldiers and militias have nowhere to appeal to. Thousands are dying every week due to diseases mostly AIDS because hospitals and clinics have no medicines. Millions are starving because their homes and means of live hood have been destroyed completely.

In many parts of the country thousands have been arrested and fined simple for selling paraffin, clothes and foodstuff like cooking oil and salt. Those with stores are forced to sell commodities at government mandated prices – even if it means loss. Those few who get money and opportunities to import food are charged devilishly high duties and quotas at the border. Zimbabweans in countries like South Africa, Botswana and Zambia struggle to get little money as if that is not enough their hard earned cash is depleted by the custom officials. Robbing the poor is one greatest evil under the sun.

“Again l looked and saw all the oppression that was taking place under the sun: l saw the tears of the oppressed and they have no comforter; power was on their oppressors- and they have no comforter” Ecclesiastes 3:16.

If the international community and Christians outside Zimbabwe do not help urgently with food, bibles, medication and clothes by the end of 2005 we are going to loose hundreds of thousand of people. Noteworthy: to those who are going to help must channel this aid into correct hands.

God we know that you are in complete control. You send your son to rescue the outcast, poor and oppressed. Majority of Zimbabweans have focused on you. Since they see no hope outside you. The selfish world in not interested in giving practical support to the sick, prisoners and starving. Even those in the free world who claim everyday to know you are inconsiderate and have closed their ears to your cries in Zimbabwe.

Women are being robbed and rapped every day, man have been disempowered children including the unborn suffer much pain as their mothers have no food. God when will your justice be manifested the wicked one is boasting every day saying ‘where is their God?’ He does not see. The oppressors are seeking finance from South Africa and more alliance with the crooked Chinese politicians to increase their capacity to oppress your people. Please God help. Amen!

President Mbeki has no option but to support his brother “Mugabe” on the north of Limpopo. With all information at their disposal South African ruling elites know that South Africa is collapsing very fast. Therefore if Mr Mbeki does not stand with his long time brother in these perilous times what will become of him?
Money that will be given to Mugabe will be used to please dissatisfied soldiers, militias and police who are being used as hired guns to oppress innocent people.
Mr Mbeki doesn’t care about the oppressed people of Zimbabwe. He has been denying that there is a crisis in Zimbabwe. In March 2005 his puppet observer mission declared rigged parliamentary elections free and fair before they were even conducted.

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil who put light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter” Isaiah 5:20.
Zimbabwean Refugees in South Africa face hard time

South Africa has more than 2 million people who have fled severe political and religious persecutions in Zimbabwe. These refugees include man, women, children, the maimed, blind and deaf. South African Department of Home Affairs deny them asylum permits and refugee status. South Africa has only 5 offices that deal with registration of asylum seekers. But just imagine how big is South Africa and the number of refugees who come not only from Zimbabwe but all over Africa. Five offices are not enough especially with the go-slow tactics of Home Affairs Registration Officials.

The Department of Home Affairs is characterised by unprecedented corruption over asylum seekers and refugees. The Home Affairs Officials demand bribes from poor asylum seekers. Many asylum seekers have obtained permits after paying bribes of R500 to R300. It’s sad that these asylum seekers are poor, some sick, sleeping in streets, staying in stinking dilapidated flats, which are regarded as health “hazard.”

Soon after granting asylum permits the Department of Home Affairs is required by the law to facilitate interviews that would lead to granting of refugee status to those who qualify. Very few people have been granted this status. Tens of thousand have been struggling to renew their asylum permits for long time.

On the other hand South Africa is loosing thousands of rands every week in deporting Zimbabweans. Even the holders of asylum permits are required to pay bribes by the police. In most circumstances asylum permit holders who fail to pay bribes end up in the notorious Lindela detention camp.
“Robbing the poor is immoral as robbing a bank”

Lindela is the name of South African detention camp for illegal immigrants. There are number of cases were people are beaten in Lindela. So far 28 people have died in this camp. Human rights groups complain that there are not being given access into Lindela to assess allegations of gross human rights abuses. Complains of food being poisoned are not uncommon. HIV/AIDS infected people are not being given proper treatment.

People arrested by the police and those ferried to Lindela Camp are not given opportunity to apply for asylum. I think there is a secret agreement between South African and Zimbabwean ruling politicians to inconvenience or cause suffering to Zimbabweans seeking asylum. Most of the people deported to Zimbabwe will be harassed, tortured and beaten by Zimbabwean authorities.

On 20 August 2005, at Johannesburg Methodist prayer meeting organised by the South African Council of Churches (SACC) a Zimbabwean women by the name xxxxxx cried, “they (government) have destroyed my home what will l do. Right now I’m in South Africa the police can arrest me any time and take me to Lindela detention camp. I’m sick…. if they take me to Lindela l know l will die there.”
A Zimbabwean blind man (in Johannesburg) said, “we have come to South Africa not that we want to stay here but we have problems when they end we will return.”

At the same Methodist prayer meeting mentioned above one member of the Pastoral Delegation of Zimbabwean Churches said,” the situation in Zimbabwe is getting worse and worse.” At the same meeting Reverend Molefe Tseletse of SACC preached from the pulpit,” if Jesus Christ was an incarnate in Zimbabwe at the time of “Operation Murambatsvina” He could have been affected” The Reverend proceeded to say, “l have no doubt if Jesus Christ was in South Africa from Zimbabwe He could be in Lindela Detention Camp. It is a lie to say there is no problem or crisis in Zimbabwe. The Church in Zimbabwe and South Africa must speak the truth. Even there might be divisions among us let there be.”

What also causes much pain to the Zimbabweans in South Africa is there rejection by most part of South African society including most Churches. The hardship inflicted by Zimbabweans in the hands of Government Officials, and Police is a reflection of the negative attitude of most South Africans towards their neighbours. They love Mugabe more than their brothers. What I’m saying must not be applied in simplicity because there are some Churches and people helping though few.

Please support our work even if you cannot, please pray for us.
